I am a storyteller, a brand journalist. Throughout my career, I have shared the stories of brands and individuals on radio and television broadcasts as well as via social media (blogs – WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Instagram, various websites and more).
As a brand journalist, I combine the skills of broadcast journalism and creative writing into sharing the cool factor (your message) to the listener/viewer/consumer and driving them to your business. Whether it’s through marketing strategy, creating compelling content, sharing an experience in a blog, or copywriting, I will find/create the cool factor that will enhance your business.
I have developed these skills thanks to nearly 700 games of Major League Baseball broadcasting experience, hundreds more as a Minor League Baseball communications executive, and sales for minor league teams, for radio and television. I can be your trusted voice and a consultant for all your communication needs.
>Specialties: Marketing strategy, media/public relations, social media, blogging, sales, communications consultant, copy writing, voiceover work, broadcasting and public speaking.
>My broadcasting career includes TV opportunities (baseball/basketball play-play-by and studio work) as well as radio opportunities (play-by-play, anchoring, reporting, hosting baseball/general talk shows).
*I was the radio pre and post game show host for the Chicago White Sox (2005) and Texas Rangers (2010-2012). Those four MLB seasons included three World Series, and the White Sox won theirs after 88 years of not doing so.
*I was the morning drive Sportscenter anchor on ESPN 1000 in 2006 and 2007 before moving to midday Sportscenters in 2008 and 2009.
*I have hosted radio baseball shows such as Rangers Magazine in DFW as well as Talkin’ Baseball, Chicago Baseballl Tonight and A Piece of [Jimmy] Piersall in Chicago.
*I have provided the radio/TV play-by-play and color commentary for three minor league baseball teams (Beloit Snappers, Myrtle Beach Pelicans & Joliet JackHammers). Also, I have worked in sales, media/public relations and various other roles with these organizations.
*On TV, I have worked for FOX Sports Oklahoma, The Big Ten Network, ESPN2’s Cold Pizza (back in the day), CBS 11/TXA21 (in DFW) and the Pelicans TV broadcasts on WPDE.
*I’m a 1997 graduate of the University of Miami (Bachelor of Science in Communications; double major in Broadcast Journalism and Creative Writing). At UM, I broadcast football, basketball and baseball on student radio 90.5 WVUM. The events I broadcast included The Carquest Bowl in 1996, the men’s and women’s Big East basketball tournaments, The College World Series and college baseball’s First Pitch Classic in Hawaii.
*My first media appearance ever was in high school. Along with a bunch of classmates (including my future wife), we read the book, “Life on the Run” by Bill Bradley and discussed it on a Sportschannel Chicago TV show called “A Book Talk with Phil Jackson.”
*I’m married with two daughters, a son and a dog.
*I want to share your story (cool factor).
